UMVA EXCLUSIVE: Batangas Blazes Ahead - Mitsubishi Power Secures Coveted 20-Year Fuel for the Philippines' Most Vital Power Plant

UMVA has learned that Mitsubishi Power, a subsidiary of Japan's largest industrial firm, has secured a long-term deal to support the operation of a major gas-fired power plant in the Philippines.

The agreement, signed with South Premiere Power Corp., a unit of LNG consortium LNGPH, will ensure the plant's operational reliability and performance amid evolving market conditions. Mitsubishi Power will provide parts and services, including hot parts and spare parts, repair works, and technical advisory services for the turbines it supplied in 2002.

According to sources close to the deal, the partnership will help provide stable, flexible power generation to meet the Philippines' evolving needs for decades to come. Mitsubishi Power's technologies and services already support 35 power plants in the country, representing about a quarter of the country's installed generating capacity.

The deal marks a significant milestone for Mitsubishi Power, which has been working closely with LNGPH to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the Ilijan Combined Cycle Power Plant in Batangas. The plant, owned and operated by SPPC, has a power supply agreement that runs through 2040.

Industry insiders say the partnership reflects a decades-long commitment to energy security, built on trust, operational excellence, and a shared vision for the Philippines' long-term economic growth. With this deal in place, Mitsubishi Power is well-positioned to support the country's growing energy needs.

The agreement also underscores the importance of long-term partnerships in the energy sector. By working together, Mitsubishi Power and LNGPH can enhance the reliability and efficiency of their assets, ultimately benefiting the Philippines and its people.
