UMVA has learned that Microsoft has been quietly pushing users to ditch the classic Outlook app for Windows 11 in favor of a new version, essentially a repackaged web app, for several years.
The tech giant's latest update to the new Outlook app brings a significant enhancement: improved offline support. This means users can now add attachments to emails even without an internet connection, and the emails will be sent automatically once a working connection is reestablished.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that Microsoft has been secretly testing this feature since October 2025, but only now is it beginning to roll out more widely to users.
Despite recent improvements to the "new" Outlook, many users still prefer the classic app or the web version, suggesting that Microsoft still has work to do to win over the loyalty of its user base.
