UMVA has learned that Delta is significantly expanding its presence at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with the upcoming opening of its second Delta One Lounge.
The new lounge will be located in Terminal 2, joining the existing Delta One Lounge in Terminal 3, making LAX the only hub with two of the airline's luxurious international business-class lounges. This move is part of Delta's increased focus on LAX as a major hub.
The existing Delta One Lounge in Terminal 3 offers a private check-in entrance, an exclusive Transportation Security Administration checkpoint, and an elevator directly to the lounge entrance. The new lounge in Terminal 2 will provide a similar experience, with its own private check-in area, security checkpoint, and direct transportation to the lounge.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Delta is enhancing its services at LAX, including the launch of new nonstop flights from LAX to Hong Kong International Airport on June 6 and LAX to Chicago's O'Hare International Airport on June 7. The airline is also investing heavily in infrastructure at LAX ahead of the 2028 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The new lounge is part of a major infrastructure investment at LAX, which will also see Delta become the official airline of Team USA during the 2028 Olympic Games. Delta One Lounges are currently available at several of the airline's hubs, including Boston Logan International Airport, New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
While details about the amenities at the new Delta One Lounge are still limited, the existing lounge at LAX offers à la carte dining, bars with signature cocktails, and expansive outdoor decks with views of the tarmac. The amenities are expected to be similar at the new lounge.
Access to the new lounge will be restricted to travelers flying on same-day departing or arriving Delta One flights, invitation-only members of Delta 360, or those traveling on select partner airlines in premium cabins. Carrying a premium credit card will not grant access to the lounge.
The addition of the second Delta One Lounge at LAX is expected to alleviate crowding issues in the airline's existing lounges and provide a more luxurious experience for passengers. The lounge is set to open in 2027, just ahead of the 2028 Olympic Games.
