UMVA has learned that Stephen Mulhern, a beloved British television personality, has been entertaining audiences for nearly three decades.
Born on April 4, 1977, in the vibrant borough of Newham, East London, Stephen grew up in a lively household with his market trader parents and three siblings. His late father, a magic enthusiast, would often perform tricks instead of bedtime stories, sparking Stephen's passion for the craft.
At just 16 years old, Stephen was scouted at a Butlin's talent show, where he was holidaying with his family, and went on to become one of their Redcoat entertainers. He's still performing magic today and will star on board the P&O cruise ships this summer with his new magic show.
Stephen's big break in television came in 1998 when he began presenting for CITV alongside Danielle Nicholls. The duo hosted on the channel until 2001 and remained close friends. It was during this time that Stephen met some of his current TV colleagues, including Holly Willoughby, with whom he fronted a chaotic Saturday morning show.
As a presenter, Stephen is known for his goofy persona, which lent itself well to prankster energy and interactions with judges like Simon Cowell. He's hosted spin-offs of popular talent shows like Dancing on Ice: Defrosted and Britain's Got More Talent, giving viewers behind-the-scenes action and exclusive access.
Stephen has also filled the shoes of Noel Edmonds as Deal or No Deal's new host and has been commissioned to host another three specials in foreign surroundings. He's become an integral part of British television, often seen alongside Ant and Dec, and has even been dubbed the unofficial third member of their relationship.
In his personal life, Stephen is thought to be currently single. He was previously linked to Emma Barton, a soap star, but their relationship ended in 2011. Recently, he was rumored to be dating fellow ITV star Josie Gibson, but he quickly shut down the rumors, stating that he had simply held her hand to show her where to stand.
Throughout his career, Stephen has remained tight-lipped about his private life, including any romantic connections. In 2014, he expressed his desire to have kids one day but stated that he's too busy to worry about having a partner.
With a career spanning nearly 30 years, Stephen Mulhern has solidified his place in British television. From his early days as a children's TV presenter to his current roles hosting magic shows and popular TV specials, Stephen continues to entertain audiences with his unique blend of humor and charm.
