Rob Milkins SHATTERS Silence Over Career RUIN After Pro Status Stripped!

Rob Milkins SHATTERS Silence Over Career RUIN After Pro Status Stripped!

Rob Milkins stands at a crossroads. Just two years after basking in the top 16 of the snooker world, the 50-year-old is now fighting for his very survival on the professional tour.

The Crucible has just witnessed one of the greatest World Championships in history—but for Milkins, the glory feels a million miles away. He's been drowning in self-doubt, his heart not in the game during a crushing defeat that left him panicking from the very first frame.

"My heart weren't in it," he admits, raw and unguarded. "I sort of panicked even from 1-0, thinking, what the hell is going on here?" He gives credit where it's due—his opponent's safety play was lethal—but the truth cuts deeper: "It's just up to me to get out of the rut now."

Milkins isn't giving up without a fight. This week, he's at the World Seniors Championship, having edged past Jimmy White. Next up is Igor Figueiredo. Then comes Q School—a brutal, pressure-cooker environment where careers are made or shattered.

"I've entered Q School. Hopefully I'll get back on," he says, but his voice carries the weight of uncertainty. "It's a bit of pot luck. You could be the best player in the world, but you ain't guaranteed to get on through that system."

There's no entitlement in his words. "No player's got a God-given right to be on the tour. People say he's too good to fall off—well, they're not. I didn't handle it very well." He's been practicing hard in a small venue near Bristol, grinding with a trusted partner.

If Q School fails, the road ahead looks murky. Coaching? He laughs at the idea—his style is too unconventional. "If the worst comes to the worst, I'll go and play pool somewhere, or go over to China." It's a stark, desperate fallback for a man who once tasted glory.

Yet glimpses of brilliance still flicker. In October, Milkins stunned everyone at the Xi'an Grand Prix—beating Zhao Xintong, then unleashing four centuries and an 80 to edge out his best mate, Jimmy Robertson, in a 5-4 thriller.

"He reminds me of that all the time," Milkins says with a wry smile. "He said, 'You had four centuries all season, and had four against me!' Then he had to mend my tip after that. He wasn't happy."

Doubt has crept in after a brutal stretch on and off the table, but confidence refuses to die. "I think I'm good enough. I've never been one to kid myself. If I wasn't capable of winning a ranking event—even now—I wouldn't even be in Q School."

The next chapter unfolds Friday night at 7pm, when Milkins faces Figueiredo in the World Seniors quarter-finals. Then Q School looms in late May—two events that will decide whether this veteran's career survives or fades into memory.
