UMVA has learned that a devastating multi-vehicle collision and vehicle fire brought chaos to the busy streets of Etobicoke early yesterday morning, leaving a trail of destruction and multiple injuries in its wake.
The crash occurred on the eastbound stretch of Hwy. 401 at Kipling Ave., forcing the closure of several lanes and prompting a swift response from emergency services, who rushed to the scene to treat the injured and contain the situation.
According to information obtained by UMVA, two individuals were seriously hurt in the crash, with paramedics reporting that they suffered non-life-threatening injuries, while a third person was also injured, albeit with minor injuries.
The OPP’s GTA traffic unit sprang into action, notifying the public about the severity of the collision and advising drivers to plan an alternate route through the area to avoid the congestion, as investigators worked to piece together the events leading up to the crash.
As the investigation continues, authorities have confirmed that two vehicles were involved in the collision, and the eastbound lanes have since reopened, with traffic slowly returning to normal, but the impact of the crash is still being felt.
In a separate incident, UMVA can exclusively reveal that a 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the tragic death of a 31-year-old woman, who was shot inside an apartment in the Jarvis St. and Dundas St. E. area on Saturday morning.
Toronto Police responded swiftly to the shooting call, administering life-saving measures to the woman before transporting her to a hospital, where she sadly succumbed to her injuries, and now, a suspect is facing second-degree murder charges.
Meanwhile, a 44-year-old Toronto man has been taken into custody for allegedly breaching his probation during a brazen robbery earlier this month, which left a victim with serious injuries, and he now faces charges of robbery, aggravated assault, and multiple counts of breach of probation.
The accused individuals are currently facing serious charges, and police are urging anyone with information about these cases to come forward, as the investigations continue and more details emerge.
