UMVA has learned that Brad Pitt’s family saga is unfolding in a new, unsettling chapter as more of his children shed the famed surname.
Maddox Jolie-Pitt, now 24, has filed to legally change his name to Maddox Chivan Jolie, citing only a “personal” reason. The move follows his recent appearance in his mother’s film credits as simply Maddox Jolie, a subtle yet powerful sign of distance.
He is not the first sibling to abandon the double‑barrelled name. Last year, Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt dropped her father’s surname to become Shiloh Jolie after turning 18, a decision described as independent and significant. Zahara Marley Jolie followed suit, being introduced as Zahara Marley Jolie at her sorority ceremony and graduation, while Vivienne appeared on a Broadway playbill as Vivienne Jolie.
The trend signals a widening rift that traces back to a 2016 private jet incident where a family dispute escalated into allegations of physical and verbal abuse. Although an FBI investigation cleared Brad Pitt of wrongdoing, the damage to family bonds appears irreversible.
Close observers note that Maddox and his brother Pax are the most visibly estranged from their father, with Pax even issuing a scathing public critique. Despite rumors that Pitt has abandoned his children, insiders insist he still desires a relationship with all six, hoping for eventual reconciliation.
Yet, each name change underscores a deeper fracture. Maddox, adopted from Cambodia before Brad’s involvement, now rejects the Pitt identity, suggesting that the family divide may grow even further.
