LONDON'S SQUIRRELS ARE HIGH?! You Won't Believe What They're Doing...

A startling video emerged this weekend, showing a squirrel in a London park seemingly engaged in a very human habit: vaping. The footage, captured in Brixton, quickly went viral, raising immediate concerns about the animal’s well-being and the pervasive reach of human waste.

Initial reactions were skeptical, with many questioning if the video was a product of artificial intelligence. However, experts at VerifyLabs.AI conducted a thorough analysis, confirming the video’s authenticity with near certainty.

The team identified key indicators that distinguished the footage from typical AI-generated animal videos. Unlike those creations, which often display unnatural physics or distorted textures, this video showed consistent lighting, realistic reflections, and natural animal movement.

This confirmation prompted a swift response from the RSPCA, highlighting the dangers of discarded litter to wildlife. The incident serves as a stark reminder of how human habits are impacting the natural world, even in unexpected ways.

It remains unclear whether the squirrel was actually inhaling vapor or simply gnawing on the device, potentially attracted by the sweet, fruity flavors of the e-liquid. Either way, the situation presents a serious health risk.

Red squirrel expert Craig Shuttleworth explained that nicotine is a foreign substance to squirrels, with potentially harmful effects. Unlike discarded cigarette butts of the past, vapes often contain appealing flavors, making them more attractive to curious animals.

Beyond nicotine, the squirrel could be ingesting microplastics and other harmful components found within the vape device. These materials are entirely absent from a squirrel’s natural diet and pose a significant threat to its health and survival.

The incident underscores a growing problem: the increasing presence of modern waste in natural environments and the vulnerability of wildlife to these unfamiliar dangers. It’s a sobering illustration of the unintended consequences of everyday habits.
