Two of Becerra’s former aides have admitted to siphoning $225,000 from a dormant campaign account between 2022 and 2024, diverting funds to pad their salaries—flagrant violations of federal laws banning the misuse of campaign money for personal gain. The guilty pleas, which emerged on the same day as a heated gubernatorial debate, have ignited a battle over Becerra’s integrity and fitness for office.
The explosive revelations crashed the debate stage.
