UMVA has learned that a murder investigation has been launched in south-east London after a violent stabbing incident early on Sunday morning.
The Metropolitan Police were called to Westow Hill in Crystal Palace at 3:39am following a report of a stabbing. Officers found a 30-year-old man with serious injuries, who was treated at the scene and later taken to hospital.
Tragically, another man believed to be in his 30s was found in the Westow Hill area with stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. The hospitalised man has since been arrested on suspicion of murder.
The investigation is moving rapidly, with Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee leading the inquiries. Residents in Crystal Palace can expect to see a significant police presence in the area as police continue to gather evidence.
The incident has caused disruption to local businesses, with some forced to close due to road closures and police cordons. A restaurant on Westow Hill confirmed it was unable to open because of the police investigation.
Local businesses are feeling the impact, with a pub sharing a message on social media saying they were unable to open due to the road closure. They suggested customers visit a nearby market instead.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation. The community is being asked to provide any details that might help bring those responsible to justice.
The police presence in the area will remain extensive as the investigation continues. Residents and local business owners are being kept informed as the situation develops.
