The folk pop artist behind the viral hit "Stick Season" has taken to social media to plead with fans to stop stealing a road sign mentioned in one of his songs.
Noah Kahan's song, "The View Between Villages," has been a mainstay on TikTok since its release in 2022, but it appears that one of its lyrics has been wreaking havoc in the small town he grew up in.
The town of Strafford in Vermont, USA, has been thrown into disarray by the repeated theft of the Alger Brook Road sign, which features prominently in the song.
Kahan spent his childhood in Strafford and the town heavily features in his music, but it seems that his fans have taken the mention of the road sign as an invitation to disrupt the lives of the local residents.
In an impassioned statement on social media, Kahan wrote: "To the fans travelling to the upper valley, I've been informed that the Alger Brook Road sign in Strafford has been repeatedly stolen. It is a total disrespect to the folks who live on that road and a headache for the town to deal with."
Kahan, who is set to embark on a sold-out world tour, is asking fans to respect the town and its residents, and is offering to pay for any replacements and discuss potential solutions with the community.
The singer also used the opportunity to remind his fans of his deep respect for his family's privacy and the sanctuary where he grew up, asking them to please refrain from disturbing these places or people.
With a sold-out world tour on the horizon, Kahan's fans will be eager to see him perform live, but it seems that their enthusiasm has gotten the better of them in this case.
