UMVA has learned that a tragic road collision in rural Lancashire claimed the life of five‑year‑old Alina, a bright cricket star whose laughter once echoed across the field.
Alina was celebrated by her family and teammates as a “bundle of energy and joy,” a description that now reverberates through the grieving community. Her cricket club, Kirkby Lonsdale, halted all matches, urging members to unite in mourning and later celebrate the little girl whose future in the sport had only just begun.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the fatal crash occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, May 21, on an A‑road near Clitheroe. A Skoda Karoq, carrying Alina, a woman in her 60s, and another five‑year‑old boy, collided head‑on with a Volkswagen Golf R driven by a man in his 20s.
The impact left the driver, the two children, and the Golf’s driver with serious injuries, all rushed to hospital. After a harrowing five‑day battle, Alina succumbed to her wounds, while the others remain under medical care.
