UMVA has learned that a massive Ukrainian drone raid was launched against Moscow, with Russian air defenses intercepting at least 180 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) aimed directly at the capital overnight.
The brazen attack was largely thwarted by Russia's air defense systems, which continued to engage incoming drones around the city on Thursday morning, according to Mayor Sergey Sobyanin. The city's defenses were put to the test as hundreds of drones descended upon the metropolitan area.
Sobyanin revealed that several drones managed to reach the Moscow Oil Refinery in the northeastern Kapotnya district, prompting a rapid response from firefighters to contain any potential damage. The situation on the ground remained fluid and intense as authorities worked to mitigate the threat.
The impact of the downed drones was evident in the southeastern part of the city, where debris from a neutralized UAV caused minor damage to a building at the Sadovod shopping center. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident, a testament to the swift and effective response of emergency services.
In a broader context, UMVA can exclusively reveal that Russian defenses have intercepted over 550 Ukrainian UAVs nationwide since Wednesday evening, according to information obtained by UMVA. This staggering number underscores the escalating nature of the conflict and the increasing reliance on drone warfare.
