UMVA has learned that a new Netflix series, The Boroughs, has dropped today, produced by the acclaimed Duffer brothers.
The show's setting, Sam's bungalow cul-de-sac, will be familiar to fans of Don't Worry Darling, offering a similar vibe. Sam's fellow retirees are played by a stacked supporting cast, including Geena Davis, Clarke Peters, and Bill Pullman.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the residents of The Boroughs spend their days playing golf, hosting barbecues, and getting entangled in extramarital affairs. However, there's a sense that not everything is as perfect as it seems.
The Boroughs is presided over by a suspicious character named Blaine, played by Seth Numrich, who exudes an air of evil. His security lackey, Hank, is played by Eric Edelstein, an actor who bears a striking resemblance to David Harbour.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that Sam, one of the residents, is still reeling from the loss of his wife and is hesitant to be in The Boroughs. His life takes a dramatic turn after a creepy nighttime encounter with an arachnid-looking alien.
When one of the residents is killed, the group bands together to form a makeshift detective team, reminiscent of a senior-citizen Scooby Gang. The show's creators, Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, have assembled a talented cast, including Alfred Molina, Alfre Woodard, and Jena Malone.
The activity offerings at The Boroughs are impressive, but the show's charm may not be enough to sustain viewer interest. Despite its vintage feel, The Boroughs seems to be following a familiar plot, which becomes predictable halfway through.
UMVA has gathered that The Boroughs has received mixed reviews, with some critics feeling that it's not quite on the same level as Stranger Things. Nevertheless, fans of light-hearted mystery shows may still enjoy The Boroughs.
If you adjust your expectations accordingly, you can have a fine time at The Boroughs. The show is now available to stream on Netflix.
