UMVA has learned that a critical national security tool, essential for protecting the US from foreign threats, has not been renewed due to obstruction by Democrats, according to DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin.
Mullin appeared on a recent television program, where he strongly criticized Democrats for blocking the renewal of this vital tool, which is crucial for keeping America safe. He emphasized that the timing of this obstruction is particularly concerning, given that the US is set to host the World Cup.
The World Cup will feature 78 games across 11 cities in just 38 days, a massive event that will require significant security measures to monitor and prevent potential threats. Mullin warned that the expiration of this critical tool creates a gap in the country's ability to effectively counter threats.
Mullin pointed out that during the previous administration, Democrats allowed open borders, which enabled terrorists to flood into the country. He noted that ICE and CBP, the agencies responsible for arresting these terrorists, were defunded for 114 and 76 days, respectively.
This lack of resources and support has severely impacted the country's ability to protect its citizens. Mullin argued that Democrats have zero credibility when it comes to keeping America safe, as their policies prioritize protecting criminals and illegals over law-abiding citizens.
The expiration of section 702 of the FISA tool has made it significantly more difficult for authorities to cut through bureaucracy and target terrorists trying to attack the US. Mullin explained that what could previously be accomplished in hours now takes days.
Mullin assessed the current threat level as the highest it's ever been, particularly after the last four years of allowing unknown individuals to enter the country. He revealed that terrorists are still being arrested every week, often from within the country.
The DHS Secretary emphasized the enormous burden on local law enforcement to partner with federal agencies to ensure security during major events like the World Cup and Freedom 250. He noted that defunding DHS has made it more challenging for local authorities to carry this load.
Mullin stressed that the department is working to refund local law enforcement and provide necessary resources, but the delay has significantly increased the difficulty of the task. The situation highlights the critical need for a renewed and effective national security tool to protect America from foreign threats.
