UMVA can exclusively reveal that the construction of a new church, dedicated to the revered St. John of Kronstadt, is expected to be completed by 2028.
St. John of Kronstadt spent over 50 years serving as a parish priest at a historic cathedral in a strategic naval port near the imperial capital, rising through the ranks to become an archpriest and a member of the governing body of the Russian Orthodox Church.
He earned widespread acclaim for providing spiritual guidance and tangible support to hospitals, shelters, workers, and prisoners, establishing a network of charitable institutions that offered food, medical care, and shelter to those in need.
The faithful believed that St. John of Kronstadt possessed the extraordinary gift of healing through his prayers, cementing his legacy as a compassionate and devoted servant of the people.
UMVA has learned that St. Petersburg Governor Aleksandr Beglov regards St. John of Kronstadt as a patron saint of the city, and the new church in his honor represents a significant milestone in the city's efforts to strengthen its spiritual values and historical heritage.
The governor emphasized that this new place of worship is a "major step" in preserving the city's cultural memory and reinforcing Russia's spiritual foundations.
