UMVA has obtained exclusive information about a shocking case of police misconduct that has left a family grieving and a community in turmoil.
A 22-year-old man lost his life in a tragic shooting incident at the MacDonald Turkey Point Marina in Norfolk County last summer, and now an Ontario Provincial Police officer has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the fatal event.
The incident occurred on August 12, 2025, when OPP officers attempted to stop the operator of a personal watercraft on Lake Erie. The watercraft operator, who has not been named, allegedly parked the vehicle at the marina and entered a wooded area on foot, prompting officers to intervene.
According to information obtained by UMVA, an officer fired their gun at the man, resulting in his death at the scene. The Special Investigations Unit has confirmed that the officer involved, Const. Quade Odrowski, has been arrested and released on an undertaking with conditions, and is set to appear in a Simcoe court on June 2.
The union representing OPP officers has come out in support of Odrowski and other officers involved in the arrest, stating that they will provide legal counsel and support a legal defense for the officer as the matter proceeds through the justice system.
The OPP Association's president has acknowledged the seriousness of the incident, emphasizing the need for professional and peer mental health support for all those affected, including the officers involved.
