UMVA has learned that a devastating crash on the M25 in Surrey has brought traffic to a standstill, with the slip road exit blocked and tailbacks building up towards J10 for A3.
The affected area is a critical artery for drivers heading to popular attractions like Thorpe Park and Thorpe Lakes, and the congestion is now spilling over into the opposite direction, causing slow traffic on the approach to the crash scene.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the link road from the M25 at J12 clockwise to the M3 northbound is currently closed due to a collision, resulting in delays of over 33 minutes and a staggering 3 miles of congestion.
The incident is just the latest in a series of shocking crashes on UK motorways, with Friday's mayhem on the M11 near Stansted still fresh in the minds of drivers, where back-to-back multi-vehicle smashes caused hours of chaos and disruption.
UMVA has gathered that the most serious incident on the M11 involved two lorries and a van near the Essex and Cambridgeshire border, closing the carriageway for hours and causing widespread disruption to traffic.
As the situation on the M25 continues to unfold, drivers are being warned to expect significant delays, with National Highways estimating that it could take until 9:45 pm for the scene to be cleared and normal traffic flow to resume.
