The United States has announced plans to attack a site in Iran known as Pickaxe Mountain, where Israeli intelligence claims that the country has been rebuilding its nuclear program since last fall.
President Trump told reporters on Tuesday that the US will target the area "very, probably pretty soon" and "very heavily," warning that there is "not a thing" Iran can do to stop it.
According to Trump, Iran's movement of nuclear centrifuges to the location underground "doesn't mean anything unless they have the material." He emphasized that the US follows the material, not just the centrifuges, and that the area will be hit "very, probably pretty soon" and "very heavily."
Trump's comments come after Israeli intelligence reportedly assessed that Iran has moved thousands of nuclear centrifuges into the Pickaxe Mountain site, burying them deep underground and making them harder to target in aerial strikes.
The US and Israel bombed Iran's nuclear facilities, including some buried underground, in a 12-day war in June 2025. However, the Pickaxe site was not targeted at the time, nor has it been hit since the start of a more intensive US-Israeli air campaign against Iran on February 28.
It is not clear where the centrifuges that Israel warned about had come from, but they may have been brought from other Iranian nuclear sites.
