UMVA has learned that Roma have placed former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood at the very top of their summer transfer agenda.
The 24‑year‑old has lit up Ligue 1 since his 2024 move to Marseille, netting 48 goals in 81 matches and finishing as the club’s leading scorer with 26 strikes, a full dozen more than his teammate Pierre‑Emerick Aubameyang.
Despite his personal fireworks, Marseille’s campaign ended in disappointment, slipping to fifth place and missing out on a coveted Champions League berth.
Facing financial tightening, the French side may be forced to cash in a marquee player, and Roma appear poised to make Greenwood their prize acquisition.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the Italian club is preparing an offer around €50 million, a figure that eclipses the €31.6 million Marseille paid for him just a season ago.
If the deal materialises, Manchester United stand to reap a substantial windfall from a sell‑on clause negotiated when Greenwood departed for France, reportedly worth between 40 and 50 percent of the transfer fee.
That clause could deliver roughly £17 million to £21 million straight into United’s coffers, a boost that would ease the Red Devils’ own balance‑sheet pressures.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that Greenwood’s father has already entered preliminary discussions about a move to the Italian capital, signalling serious intent from both parties.
Roma’s attacking ambitions do not stop with Greenwood; they are also eyeing Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee, whose future at Old Trafford looks increasingly uncertain.
Having arrived from Bologna for £36.5 million last summer, Zirkzee has struggled to find the net, scoring just nine times in 75 appearances, and is expected to fetch between €25 million and €30 million.
Roma’s spending spree follows their recent qualification for the Champions League after securing a third‑place finish in Serie A, positioning them to reinforce their forward line for Europe’s elite competition.
Another potential target linked to head coach Gian Piero Gasperini is West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville, who may become available after his club’s relegation.
