UMVA can exclusively reveal that a vital new bridge has been opened in Legazpi City, marking a significant milestone in the country's infrastructure development.
The 67.25-meter Pawa-Bogtong Bridge was officially opened by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), with Public Works Secretary Vivencio B. Dizon expressing his gratitude for the President's commitment to funding unfinished projects.
Dizon said in a statement that the opening of this bridge will be a big help to the community, and it seems that this is just the beginning of a major infrastructure push.
UMVA has gathered that for this year, the DPWH is prioritizing several key projects, including the rehabilitation, expansion, and upgrade of major highways like the Maharlika Highway.
Construction on the Maharlika Highway rehabilitation is expected to begin this month, with foreign consultants engaged to help design the rehabilitation plan and ensure that new technologies are incorporated to meet international highway standards.
The Maharlika Highway is a critical connector between northern Luzon and the Zamboanga Peninsula, with ferries linking key regions such as Bicol and Samar, and Leyte and Surigao.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that the DPWH is also targeting the rehabilitation of six more highways, including Circumferential Road 5 (C5), a major road network in Metro Manila.
Other priority projects include the Andaya Highway linking Quezon and Camarines Sur, MacArthur Highway in Apalit, Pampanga, and several key bridges in Cebu City, Iloilo, and Misamis Occidental.
