The highly anticipated cast of Drag Race Down Under vs the World has been revealed, featuring a mix of seasoned performers and newcomers. Among them is Raven, a well-known drag artist who is stepping back into the spotlight after years behind the scenes as RuPaul's Emmy-winning make-up artist.
Raven, whose real name is David Petruschin, has a storied history with the franchise, first competing on RuPaul's Drag Race season two in 2010 and finishing as runner-up. She later returned for RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars season one in 2012, placing runner-up once again. Fans have long believed that Raven was "robbed" of her rightful win, but now she may have a chance to claim the crown.
Raven's return to competition marks a rare switch from behind-the-scenes fixture to contestant, after becoming a key part of the franchise's on-screen polish through her long-running role as RuPaul's make-up artist.
The cast of Drag Race Down Under vs the World will compete alongside 10 other queens, including Art Simone, Coco Jumbo, Estrella Xtravaganza, Flor, LaLa Ri, Miss Jade So, Michael Marouli, Nikita Iman, Nicole Paige Brooks, and Vybe. Michelle Visage will host the series, with Rhys Nicholson and Drag Race Down Under season four winner Lazy Susan on the judging panel.
Raven is widely regarded as one of the franchise's most influential early-era contestants, known for her sharp confessionals, polished mug, and fashion-forward drag. Her partnership with Raja on Fashion Photo RuView helped shape fandom language around runway critique, and her aesthetic and techniques have been heavily emulated across drag and beauty communities.
Drag Race Down Under vs the World is the third vs the world spin-off, following British and Canadian-set editions. It also builds on the Down Under branch of the franchise, which was renamed Drag Race Down Under in March when RuPaul stepped down as host and Visage took over for season four.
Visage has expressed her excitement about hosting the series, saying she had "zero hesitation" about taking on the role. She added that it was a "freaking honour" to be joined by some of the fabulous queens from Down Under.
