Tennis Star's Verbal Outburst at Wimbledon Umpire Raises Questionable Calls and Intense Debate

Tennis Star's Verbal Outburst at Wimbledon Umpire Raises Questionable Calls and Intense Debate

Damir Dzumhur received an official warning during his Wimbledon match after disputing a let call with the chair umpire.

The former world No. 23 captured the first set 6‑3 against British player Arthur Fery before establishing an early break in the second set.

At 15‑30 in the fourth game of the second set, Dzumhur’s serve clipped the net tape, prompting him to claim a let that was not signaled by the umpire.

Frustrated, Dzumhur confronted both his opponent and the umpire, insisting the point should have been replayed and accusing them of ignoring the call.

The chair umpire issued a formal warning for unsportsmanlike conduct after Dzumhur’s repeated protests continued into the next game.

Fery capitalized on the break point, and Dzumhur proceeded to lose four consecutive games, ultimately dropping the set while still voicing complaints to the match referee.

Maintaining composure, Fery blocked out the disruptions and secured victory, winning the remaining two sets with a decisive margin.

The win moves Fery into the second round, making him only the second British player to advance after a challenging start for the host nation.

Recent British results include withdrawals by Emma Raducanu and Jack Draper, defeats for Cameron Norrie and Katie Boulter, and a win by Katie Swan over Irina‑Camelia Begu.
