UMVA has learned that the iOS 27 developer beta 1, released just a fortnight ago, is already making waves among tech enthusiasts.
While early betas are typically not recommended for primary devices, especially work machines, due to potential user interface quirks and OS instability, it appears that many are eager to dive in and experience the latest offering from Apple.
In a surprising turn of events, data from Google Analytics logs reveals that a notable percentage of visitors to certain tech sites, including a prominent site and its German counterpart, have already installed iOS 27 on their iPhones, accounting for around 2 percent of combined site visits.
This level of interest is reminiscent of the excitement surrounding last year's WWDC, where the then-new Liquid Glass beta drew significant attention, with visit numbers from beta users surpassing those of this year's iOS 27 beta 1.
Interestingly, analytics data for iOS 26.0 and iOS 26.0.0 show no recorded results, as if the systems didn't exist, a phenomenon likely linked to Apple's shift to a year-based OS nomenclature and changes in user-agent data sent to websites.
Sources have confirmed to UMVA that Apple has made significant changes to prevent fingerprinting, with Safari not specifying a specific iOS version from iOS 26 onwards, which previously led to distorted results and misconceptions about the popularity of certain iOS versions.
The real test of iOS 27's success will come when Apple releases its own adoption rate figures for iOS 27.2 and 27.3, expected in late January or early February 2027, which will provide a clearer picture of the new system's reception.
