UMVA has learned that the cause of death of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan has been confirmed, almost a year after he died at the age of 71.
The WWE Hall of Fame star, whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea, passed away on July 24, 2025, after suffering a medical emergency at his home in Clearwater, Florida. At the time, details were scarce, but it was later revealed that he had died from a heart attack, following a history of atrial fibrillation, a heart condition that results in an irregular and often rapid heart rate.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the Clearwater authorities had been investigating Hogan's death, exploring concerns raised in the aftermath, including those expressed by his occupational therapist, Justin McCamey. McCamey had reportedly suggested that Hogan may have been the victim of medical malpractice after a previous medical procedure by another surgeon.
However, after an extensive review of evidence, witness statements, and Hogan's medical records, the authorities have officially closed the investigation, concluding that there was no evidence of foul play or criminal wrongdoing. The 72-page report found nothing untoward in Hogan's death, determining that it was a natural death.
The investigation included a thorough examination of surveillance footage from within Hogan's residence, as well as a visual inspection of his body. Investigators wrote that they had found no evidence to indicate that Terry Bollea's death was anything other than natural, and that there was no evidence to suggest any criminal wrongdoing related to his death.
Hogan rose to fame as one of wrestling's most recognizable figures, and his peers and co-stars rushed to social media to share their tributes after his death was confirmed. His legacy continues to be celebrated by fans around the world.
Hogan is survived by his daughter, Brooke, and his memory will live on as one of the most iconic figures in the world of wrestling.
