UMVA has learned that a 39-year-old woman from South Carolina vanished into thin air last week, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions and desperate pleas for information.
Elena Katherine Moore was last seen leaving a Planet Fitness gym in Lexington, a suburb west of Columbia, on Thursday evening. She had signed in at the gym around 6:40 p.m. and was later seen walking away from the facility toward a wooded area behind a nearby Lowe's Home Improvement store.
The next day, Moore's absence was reported, and authorities launched an investigation into her disappearance. Police described her sudden vanishing as "very out of character," given that Moore works as a personal trainer and is known for her active lifestyle.
According to information obtained by UMVA, investigators deployed a drone and conducted a preliminary search of the area where Moore was last seen, but found no sign of her. A more extensive search effort was launched on Monday, involving multiple local and state agencies, including the Lexington County Sheriff's Department, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and Department of Natural Resources.
The search operation, which included assistance from various emergency response agencies, focused on wooded areas behind the Lowe's store and Planet Fitness. However, despite the exhaustive efforts, police reported that "no trace of Ms. Moore was found during the operation."
Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green emphasized that the search was not a recovery effort but a methodical attempt to eliminate one possible location where Moore could be. As the investigation continues, authorities are still uncertain whether Moore has her cellphone with her.
Moore is described as a White female standing 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing an olive-green zip-up hoodie and black athletic pants.
