The details emerging from the case against David Anthony Burke, known as D4vd, are profoundly disturbing. Prosecutors have laid out a chilling account of events following the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, painting a picture of calculated desperation and horrific acts.
The court has heard allegations that Burke engaged in a relationship with Hernandez before her death, a relationship that ultimately spiraled into tragedy. He now faces charges including murder, lewd acts with a minor, and the gruesome mutilation of a body.
The prosecution alleges a motive rooted in fear – the fear of a career destroyed. Hernandez, after ending the relationship, reportedly threatened to reveal details that could have derailed Burke’s burgeoning music career just as his debut album was about to launch.
According to court documents, Burke arranged for Hernandez to be picked up from her home on the evening of April 23rd. The prosecution contends that upon her arrival at his residence, he fatally stabbed her, standing by as she succumbed to her injuries, and crucially, never seeking medical help.
What followed, prosecutors claim, was a systematic and horrifying attempt to erase any trace of Hernandez. Burke allegedly sent texts to her phone, feigning concern and inquiring about her whereabouts, all while simultaneously ordering a disturbing array of items.
The list included a shovel, two chainsaws, body bags, heavy-duty laundry bags, and a blue inflatable pool – all delivered under an assumed name. Most chillingly, he also ordered a “burn cage,” suggesting a plan to incinerate evidence and further conceal his actions.
The prosecution detailed a scene of brutal dismemberment. Hernandez’s body was placed in the inflatable pool to contain the blood, then allegedly subjected to the horrific use of chainsaws to remove her limbs.
In a particularly disturbing detail, Burke is accused of amputating two of Hernandez’s fingers – her left ring and pinky – because they bore a tattoo of his name, an attempt to further distance himself from the victim. These fingers remain missing.
Her remains were then placed in a Tesla, her head and torso in a cadaver bag, and her limbs in a separate garbage bag, concealed within the vehicle’s front trunk. The discovery of her remains last September initiated the investigation that has now revealed these harrowing details.
Burke has pleaded not guilty, but the evidence presented by the prosecution paints a grim and deeply unsettling picture of a young life tragically cut short and a desperate attempt to conceal a horrific crime.
