Mountain Rescue Saves Labrador After Cannabis Ingestion During Ben Nevis Hike

While hiking on Ben Nevis, a Labrador named Tokyo collapsed after consuming an unknown substance on the trail, prompting her owner to call for emergency assistance.

Bluhme, a dog trainer from Surrey, was unable to lower the 25‑kilogram dog from the steep, rocky slope and feared the worst.

She contacted the Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, which dispatched a crew to the scene and transported Tokyo to the Crown Veterinary Clinic in Fort William.

Tokyo was treated for severe illness and made a full recovery the following day, leaving her owner feeling "incredibly lucky" and grateful for the rescue effort.

Bluhme praised the rescue team’s quick response and the veterinary staff’s care, stating that carrying the dog alone would have been impossible.

She urged other dog owners to remain vigilant for discarded drugs and hazardous materials in natural areas, noting the unexpected danger she had encountered.
