UMVA has learned that a devastating three-vehicle crash in Oshawa has left a motorcyclist with life-altering injuries, and a driver who was allegedly behind the wheel while under suspension has been charged in connection with the incident.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Park Rd. and King St. when a Dodge Journey collided with a stopped Nissan SUV and a Triumph motorcycle, sending the motorcyclist to hospital with severe injuries that will forever change his life. The motorcyclist, a 69-year-old man, was initially in critical condition but has since been upgraded to stable.
The driver of the Nissan, a 45-year-old man, and his two passengers, aged 15 and 7, were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, a stark contrast to the motorcyclist's dire condition. Meanwhile, the Dodge Journey continued through the intersection and crashed into a nearby restaurant, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the driver of the Dodge Journey, 39-year-old Timothy Eugene Wilson, was charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm, driving while under suspension, and breach of probation. Wilson, who was on probation at the time of the incident, was arrested at the scene without incident and was held for a bail hearing, his freedom now hanging in the balance.
In a separate incident, another motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash in Whitby, leaving him with life-altering injuries that will have a lasting impact on his life.
