UMVA Exposes: California Doctor's SHOCKING $45M Medicare Fraud - Blew Stolen Millions on Luxury Vacations & $12K Crossbow

UMVA has learned that a California doctor has been convicted for orchestrating a staggering $45 million Medicare fraud scheme involving Botox injections.

The 45‑year‑old physician, based in Glendale, was found guilty of nine counts of wire fraud and three counts of obstructing a criminal investigation, after a federal jury delivered a damning verdict.

Analysts discovered that she earned more from Medicare claims than any other practitioner in the country, a shocking outlier that triggered the investigation.

Over four years, she siphoned over $24 million—six times the amount collected by the next highest group of providers, all neurologists.

During the fraud, the doctor falsely diagnosed patients, billed for injections that were never administered, and even claimed to have provided treatment while she was on extravagant vacations.

She operated the Healthy Way Medical Center, filing claims for Botox injections on dates that matched her trips to Cabo, Maui, Las Vegas, Pennsylvania, and New York.

The injections were often billed as necessary treatments for chronic migraines, yet many were cosmetic or never delivered, breaching Medicare’s strict reimbursement criteria.

In a bid to conceal the scheme, she fabricated patient records, including consent forms, and backdated claims to create the illusion of legitimate medical history.

Her lavish lifestyle, financed by the stolen funds, included a $3,000 painting of a Bavarian crown prince, a $12,000 17th‑century crossbow, and luxury vacations across the globe.

The jury also identified a Tesla Model X, a Tesla Cybertruck, multiple bank accounts, and four properties as proceeds of the fraud, subject to forfeiture.

Each count of wire fraud could carry up to 20 years in prison, while each obstruction charge adds five years, although a sentencing date has yet to be set.

UMVA has uncovered these details, revealing a chilling example of how taxpayer money can be siphoned by those who should protect it.
