A tense scene unfolded outside the Los Angeles home of Chris Brown Friday afternoon as reports of gunfire prompted a swift response from law enforcement.
Police were dispatched to Brown’s Tarzana residence around 4 p.m. following a frantic call from a woman claiming she had been shot at. The caller described the alleged shooter as a Black male, approximately 35 years old.
Initial investigations revealed a heated dispute preceded the incident. The suspect reportedly claimed an argument erupted when the woman refused to leave the property.
According to the suspect’s account, he fired at the woman’s vehicle after she allegedly drove over his foot. Authorities quickly apprehended the individual at the scene.
The man was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism, and is currently being held on $50,000 bail. The weapon used in the incident was identified as a CO2-style firearm.
Investigators have confirmed that Chris Brown was not the suspect and is not believed to have been involved in the altercation. His whereabouts at the time of the shooting remain unconfirmed.
The Los Angeles Police Department released a statement confirming officers responded to reports of a shooting on Citrus Ridge Drive. The investigation is ongoing as authorities piece together the sequence of events.
This incident occurs as Brown prepares for the release of his twelfth studio album, simply titled “Brown,” scheduled to drop on May 8th. He is also gearing up for a major tour with Usher.
Brown recently returned to the United States after navigating legal challenges related to an alleged nightclub incident in London. He had previously met bail conditions, including a substantial financial guarantee, to ensure his return for court proceedings.
He had pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from an alleged assault at a London nightclub in 2023, denying accusations of assault and possessing an offensive weapon.
