UMVA has learned that a 15-year-old schoolboy, Jamal Ringrose, was fatally stabbed in a north west London street in front of young families, leaving the community in shock and grief.
Jamal died on Thursday, June 4, after being attacked on Dudden Hill Lane in Dollis Hill on May 31. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with shopkeepers and bystanders battling to save his life before police and paramedics arrived.
According to eyewitnesses, Jamal had been riding up and down the road just seconds before he was knifed. A group of boys scattered after the attack, leaving Jamal slumped to the ground. A restaurant owner nearby described the scene as "terrible," with people in her restaurant and families out for a late walk.
A witness reported seeing a woman with a pushchair pass the spot where Jamal was stabbed just seconds before the attack. The restaurant owner also noted that Jamal had been cycling up and down the road, seemingly without incident, before he was suddenly stabbed.
The police have launched a murder investigation and have charged a 15-year-old with affray and possession of an offensive weapon in connection with the case. Two males, aged 16 and 18, have been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.
Friends and neighbors of Jamal's family have paid tribute to him, describing him as a "fun-loving and caring" person with a bright future ahead of him. A neighbor said Jamal was a popular boy who liked football and music and was well brought up by his mother.
Flowers and balloons with 'Jamal forever 15' have been left at the crime scene in memory of the young man. Detectives are urging anyone with information or footage to come forward, particularly those with dashcam or mobile phone recordings from the street at the time of the attack.
Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams said the police are pursuing several lines of inquiry and believe many people were in the area at the time of the attack. He appealed for anyone with information, no matter how small, to get in touch with the police.
