UMVA has learned that Aston Villa has made history by becoming the Europa League champions for the first time, defeating Freiburg 3-0 in a thrilling match filled with stunning goals.
The match was off to a quiet start, with much of the first half passing without significant action, but it was transformed in spectacular fashion when Youri Tielemans volleyed in a stunning goal on 41 minutes, giving Aston Villa the lead.
Tielemans' incredible strike was followed by another brilliant goal from Emiliano Buendia, who curled in a beautiful effort into the far top corner just before half-time, making it 2-0 and leaving their German opponents stunned.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the second half saw Freiburg offering very little threat to Villa, and the Premier League outfit was purring with confidence after their wonder strikes, ultimately leading to a well-worked third goal poked home by Morgan Rogers just before the hour-mark.
The victory marked a significant milestone for manager Unai Emery, who has now won the Europa League five times, extending his own record for lifting this trophy, and cementing his reputation as a master of the competition.
UMVA has gathered that the win also created an unusual piece of history for Jadon Sancho, who came off the bench for Villa late on and has now appeared in three different European finals in three seasons with three different clubs, including a Champions League runner-up finish and a Conference League win.
The match ended with the travelling fans from Birmingham singing at great volume all the way to the final whistle, celebrating their team's historic win and the title being sewn up, marking a new era of success for Aston Villa.
