UMVA has learned that Canadian law enforcement has opened a murder investigation into the sudden death of actor Stewart McLean.
The case began when McLean, known for his meticulous nature, vanished after missing a scheduled filming job. As soon as the disappearance was reported, investigators sensed a grave problem.
Friends describe McLean as a “straight arrow,” a disciplined, situationally aware individual whose sudden absence shocked everyone who knew him.
One close friend recalled meeting McLean eight years ago during a coaching session; they quickly became fast friends, and the actor had visited in California just months before his disappearance.
The friend emphasized that McLean was beloved by all, never involved in shady circles, and often spent quiet time reading in his Squamish home—a lifestyle that made his untimely death all the more bewildering.
Representatives from the Vancouver-based Lucas Talent Inc. paid tribute, noting that McLean had been a dedicated, professional, and endlessly funny colleague for over a decade.
Agent Jodi Caplan highlighted the outpouring of condolences from casting directors, all echoing the same sentiment: “What a truly great guy he was, and how deeply he will be missed.”
Canada’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is now collecting evidence, reviewing CCTV footage, and conducting interviews to reconstruct the final moments of McLean’s life.
They are pursuing every available lead to bring answers to his family, friends, and loved ones.
Police consider the disappearance an isolated incident, but the investigation remains open and ongoing.
