IRAQ ON NOTICE: US Demands Action or Face the Consequences!

A chilling warning has been issued to all U.S. citizens in Iraq: leave immediately. The escalating violence, fueled by Iranian-backed militias, has reached a dangerous new peak, threatening not only American personnel but also the fragile stability of the region.

The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad was directly targeted over the weekend, struck by a missile that landed on a helipad. This brazen attack is just the latest in a series of assaults on American, French, Italian, and Kurdish forces and facilities within Iraqi borders, raising serious questions about the Iraqi government’s control.

Behind the attacks lie the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), a powerful network of militias allegedly funded and armed by the very government meant to restrain them. A Kurdish official, speaking candidly, revealed a disturbing truth: these groups are on the Iraqi payroll, and their leaders are deeply embedded within Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s coalition.

Prime Minister al-Sudani finds himself at the center of a growing storm of criticism. Accusations are mounting that his administration is turning a blind eye – or worse, actively enabling – the aggression of these pro-Iranian factions. The situation is further complicated by al-Sudani’s recent congratulatory message to Iran’s new Supreme Leader, a gesture viewed by many as a clear signal of alignment.

The Iraqi government vehemently denies any complicity, insisting it condemns all attacks on diplomatic missions and foreign interests. Officials claim to be actively pursuing those responsible, but evidence suggests a different reality. Arrests, when they occur, are often short-lived, with suspects released on bail and fleeing to Iran.

The human cost of this escalating conflict is tragically clear. A French soldier was recently killed by an Iranian-designed drone in the Kurdistan region, adding to a growing toll of casualties. Over 300 drone and missile attacks have targeted the area since the start of U.S. operations, leaving seven dead and 35 injured.

The Kurdish Regional Government, a staunch ally of the United States, feels increasingly abandoned. They argue that al-Sudani’s government is deliberately failing to confront the militias, allowing them to operate with impunity. They desperately seek stronger action, including a crackdown on the PMF’s financial network.

While the U.S. and Israel remain officially silent on reports of direct strikes against PMF positions, evidence suggests a growing response. Airstrikes have intensified, targeting militia headquarters and infrastructure, signaling a determination to protect American interests and regional stability.

Two groups, Asaib Ahl al Haq and Kataib Hezbollah, are identified as particularly aggressive actors, both heavily funded and trained by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. The U.S. has already sanctioned both organizations, but the flow of support from Tehran continues.

Beyond the immediate security concerns, a troubling economic dimension has emerged. The Kurdish government alleges that Baghdad is imposing an embargo on imported goods, a move seen as an attempt to undermine their autonomy and decades of progress. This adds another layer of complexity to an already volatile situation.

One former Iraqi official paints a stark picture, describing the PMF as “the Iraqi branch of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.” He argues that dismantling the PMF itself is the only way to truly halt the cycle of violence and protect regional interests. The stakes, he warns, could not be higher.
