TRUMP FEAR DROVE THEM TO EXTREMES: Family ABANDONS America for Secret UK Hideaway!

TRUMP FEAR DROVE THEM TO EXTREMES: Family ABANDONS America for Secret UK Hideaway!

Ashley O’Brien and her family are poised for a life-altering move, trading the anxieties of their current world for the promise of a simpler existence across the Atlantic. Driven by a desire to shield her children from an overwhelming tide of global events, Ashley is meticulously planning a new beginning in a place she hopes will offer peace and normalcy.

The decision wasn’t made lightly. A relentless stream of headlines – from geopolitical conflicts to domestic unrest – had created a constant state of unease. Ashley yearned for her teenagers, Daisy and Mitchell, to focus on the typical concerns of adolescence, not active shooter drills and a world seemingly spiraling into chaos. She dreamed of a life centered around local issues, like neighborhood disputes and school events.

The search for the perfect haven began with a daunting task: narrowing down the possibilities. Instead of endlessly scrolling through online resources, Ashley turned to an unexpected ally – ChatGPT. The AI tool helped distill her criteria, focusing her attention on towns that offered the right blend of amenities and community.

Ashley Anne O'Brien, 44, wanted to flee America saying it had become ''too much" due to the President's administration. With a British husband she was keen for their kids to be close to their roots and be exposed to the country's culture here. Overwhelmed by choice, the Cocoa Beach, Florida resident asked ChatGPT to narrow down the potential contenders for their move to the UK. Ashley plugged of her family's several interests into the software, including moving into a touristy town, proximity to the water, a warmer climate and amenities like theatre and tennis courts. ChatGPT came up with ten potential places to move mostly in Devon - including Sidmouth, Exmouth and Torquay. When Torquay came up, she loved the town, and the beach front but also nearby sites like Kents cavern, Babbacombe Model Village and The Babbacombe Cliff Railway. Photo released 30/03/2026

Torquay, a vibrant town on the English Riviera in Devon, quickly rose to the top. Larger than neighboring Sidmouth and Exmouth, it boasted a wider range of resources and held fond memories for Ashley’s husband, who had spent time there during his childhood. The vision of finding a charming bed and breakfast, perhaps one owned by a retiring local, began to take shape.

Beyond a change of scenery, this move represents a reconnection to family roots. Ashley’s husband emigrated to the US from Walsall, Staffordshire, and she hopes this relocation will allow her children to forge stronger ties with their heritage. It’s a chance to build a new chapter while honoring the past.

Torquay itself is undergoing a transformation, with ambitious regeneration plans underway to revitalize the harborside and enhance the town’s appeal. Already a popular destination, attracting over four million visitors annually to its 22 miles of coastline and 20 beaches, it’s a place brimming with potential.

The English Riviera offers a diverse range of activities, from watersports like water-skiing and kayaking to challenging open-water swims. Evenings can be spent enjoying West End-caliber productions at local theaters or testing teamwork skills at escape rooms. For those who prefer a more relaxed pace, the harbor is lined with shops and restaurants.

Ashley is already immersing herself in the local community, joining Facebook groups to gain insights into the everyday lives of Torquay residents. She’s eager to understand their concerns, celebrate their festivals, and become a part of the fabric of this new home. It’s more than just a move; it’s the start of an adventure, a fresh beginning filled with hope and the promise of a beautiful life.

She envisions a future where her family can breathe freely, where worries are smaller, and where the simple joys of life take center stage. It’s a powerful yearning for normalcy, a desire to create a haven where her children can thrive and embrace a hopeful future.
