UMVA has learned that Sam Vaughan, the husband of former Radio 1 host Scott Mills, has taken to social media to commemorate their second wedding anniversary, amid a wave of support from his former BBC colleagues.
The couple, who met at a radio event in 2016, shared a romantic photo on Instagram of themselves walking down the aisle in matching tuxedos, holding hands, and beaming with joy. The picture was posted two months after Scott's sudden departure from the BBC.
Scott, 53, was let go from his breakfast slot in March following historic allegations of sexual offenses against a teenager. However, his former colleagues have rallied around him, with Zoe Ball, Rylan Clark, and Sara Cox publicly showing their support on social media.
Zoe Ball, who was replaced by Scott on the BBC breakfast show in 2025, wrote a heartfelt message, commenting: '2 years [heart] Love you [four red heart emojis]'. Rylan Clark and Sara Cox also posted a string of love hearts in the comments section, which has garnered over 15,000 likes.
Rylan Clark recently opened up about the challenges of 'cancel culture,' sharing his emotional response to seeing friends fall victim to it. Sara Cox, a longtime friend and colleague of Scott's, has been a vocal supporter, having attended the couple's wedding in 2024.
Scott's tenure at the BBC was marked by controversy, including an investigation into allegations in 2018. Although the case was dropped due to lack of evidence, the BBC has since taken action, terminating his contracts and citing 'new information.'
As Scott navigates this tumultuous period, he's found solace in the support of his loved ones, including his husband Sam. The couple is currently residing in their home in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, surrounded by the love and encouragement of their friends and family.
