A Canadian national has been charged with slapping a teenage girl who was wearing political apparel at a Jersey Shore beach during the Fourth of July weekend.
Surveillance footage shows the suspect confronting a group of teens in Point Pleasant Beach, some of whom were wearing pants emblazoned with slogans such as “Trump” and “ICE.” The confrontation escalated when the suspect allegedly struck one of the girls.
The individual entered the United States in 2024 on a passport and is said to have recorded the altercation before the incident was reported to authorities.
He was released into the custody of immigration enforcement on Monday and taken to Delaney Hall in Newark, a facility that has been the site of prolonged confrontations between ICE agents and left‑wing activists.
Charges filed against the suspect include endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault.
The victim sustained no injuries as a result of the altercation.
The case unfolds in a state that has adopted sanctuary‑style policies, while Ocean County remains a Republican stronghold with a long‑serving state representative in office since 1981.
