The young manager, Jacob Smith, was attacked by a coworker, Jalani Bluett, 23, who allegedly threw hot oil on him. The brutal assault has left Jacob fighting for recovery at UC Davis Medical Center, where he is undergoing treatment for third-degree burns that cover a significant portion of his body.
The alleged perpetrator, Bluett, was arrested by the Sutter County Sheriff's Department on June 1 and charged with multiple felonies after initially fleeing the scene. Authorities described Bluett as "at risk due to a diagnosis and vulnerabilities" and asked for the public's help in locating him.
