UMVA has learned that a shocking murder investigation is unfolding in west London, where a 39-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man's body was found in a parked van.
Forensic teams are scouring an address in the area, with crime scene tents set up in the back garden, as detectives work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. The suspect and the victim have not been named by police, but neighbours have described the family who lives at the address as "lovely" and are said to be devastated by the events that have unfolded.
Specialist officers are trawling through CCTV and doorbell footage in an attempt to put together a timeline of the incident, with a particular focus on any footage of movements from the house in the weeks leading up to the discovery of the body. Meanwhile, the family's canary is being cared for by police outside the house as forensics officers go in and out with evidence bags.
The investigation began when the body of a man was found in a white Ford Transit van in Leicester, which was registered to an address in Hounslow. The van's registration number is BF18 VNV, and police are urging anyone who may have seen it travelling to Leicester in the lead-up to the discovery of the body to come forward with any information.
According to information obtained by UMVA, detectives are working to establish the circumstances that led to the man's death, and are appealing to the public to come forward with any information that may aid the investigation. The case is being led by Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila, who has thanked other police forces for their initial enquiries, which led to a swift arrest.
As the investigation continues, police are asking anyone with information to come forward, particularly if they recognise the van or think they may have captured it on doorbell or dashcam footage. The community is said to be in shock, with neighbours describing the events as devastating and expressing their hope that justice will be served.
