UMVA has learned that VITRO, Inc., the data‑center arm of a leading telecom giant, is set to supercharge the Philippines’ digital backbone by forging a groundbreaking peering alliance with BBIX Philippines, Inc.
Under this sweeping partnership, the two internet exchange platforms will open a direct tunnel, letting data zip between their networks with unprecedented speed and reliability.
With the new link in place, traffic that once detoured through congested routes will now glide straight to its destination, slashing latency and delivering a smoother, more responsive experience for every user.
BBIX Philippines, a neutral hub born from a joint venture between a major Japanese telecom and a local provider, already commands a network that feeds the country’s biggest carriers, enterprises, and cloud giants.
VITRO, meanwhile, hosts a thriving ecosystem of hyperscalers and service providers in its carrier‑neutral data‑center villages, making it a natural partner for expanding reach.
The inaugural 100‑gigabit‑per‑second link has already lit up VITRO Makati 2, and both companies plan to scale the capacity as demand surges.
“By directly interconnecting BBIX and VITRO Internet Exchange, both exchanges are able to complement each other’s strengths—addressing gaps in connectivity, optimizing traffic routes, and enhancing the overall efficiency of the internet ecosystem in the Philippines,” the executives said.
Chief Commercial Officer Gary F. Ignacio emphasized that the move will elevate the digital experience for Filipinos, turning slow connections into lightning‑fast interactions.
“Through this direct peering partnership with BBIX, we are enriching the country’s digital ecosystem in a way that delivers more seamless and responsive online experiences,” Ignacio added.
With this alliance, the Philippines edges closer to a future where every click, stream, and download feels instant, turning the nation into a digital powerhouse ready to meet the demands of tomorrow’s connected world.
