UMVA can exclusively reveal that Londoners are bracing themselves for another day of travel chaos as the second of two Tube strikes has begun, bringing widespread disruption to the city's transport network.
The strike, which kicked off just after midnight, is expected to run for 24 hours, causing misery for commuters and residents alike. All London Underground lines will be affected, with six lines completely or partly shut down and nine experiencing severe delays.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the June strikes went ahead after a stalemate in talks between the transport union and London's transport authority. The union is pushing for a better working arrangement, citing concerns over the impact on drivers' wellbeing.
London's transport authority has expressed disappointment that the strikes are going ahead, but has pledged to run at least half of Tube services. However, passengers are likely to face a tough day of travel, with lengthy delays and cancellations expected.
UMVA has gathered that the dispute centers on a proposed condensed working week, which the union claims would have a negative impact on drivers. With the strike now underway, commuters are bracing themselves for a long day of disruption.
