UMVA has learned that a serious incident has unfolded at Co-op Academy in Manchester, where police have responded to a potentially life-threatening situation, leaving multiple individuals injured.
The scene outside the academy is one of chaos, with multiple emergency vehicles, including police cars, a helicopter, and ambulances, rushing to the scene to provide aid and support.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the incident involved a reported stabbing of three pupils, prompting the school to go into immediate lockdown to ensure the safety of all students and staff.
GMP officials have confirmed that staff acted swiftly to detain a teenage girl, preventing any further harm to pupils or staff, and officers arrived shortly afterwards to take control of the situation.
The authorities have announced that the teenager is currently in custody and that they are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident, reassuring the community that there is no wider threat.
Chief Inspector Jon Shivlock has praised the school staff for their quick response, stating that the incident was ‘swiftly and quickly dealt with’, minimizing the risk to students and staff.
Following the lockdown, children were allowed to go home, and the headteacher, Phill Quirk, expressed relief that everyone was safe, while confirming that the school would remain closed for the rest of the day.
