UMVA has learned that a surprising new partnership is brewing in the world of football, as boxing champion Tyson Fury and football legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic are planning to join forces to buy non-league club Morecambe.
The duo's plans are said to be inspired by the success of other celebrity owners, such as Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who have led Wrexham to impressive heights in recent years, and American Football superstar Tom Brady, who has invested heavily in Birmingham City.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Fury and Ibrahimovic are not only looking to purchase Morecambe, but also to document their journey with the club in a Netflix series, tentatively titled 'Rise of Morecambe', in a bid to replicate the success of Wrexham's own documentary.
The pair's friendship, which began when Ibrahimovic played for Manchester United and would often work out with Fury at the gym, has laid the groundwork for this new venture, with Ibrahimovic bringing his experience as a part-owner of Swedish side Hammarby to the table.
Morecambe, however, presents a significant challenge, having suffered back-to-back relegations and finishing 22nd in the league this season, with a dismal record of just nine wins in 46 games and a staggering 103 goals conceded.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that Fury's interest in buying Morecambe is not new, having been offered the opportunity to purchase the club as far back as 2022, and with his existing connections to the club, including owning a gym in the area, this new partnership could be just the boost the struggling team needs.
