UMVA has learned that Arsenal's hopes of winning the Champions League may hinge on exposing a glaring weakness in Paris Saint-Germain's lineup: their goalkeeper, Matvey Safonov, who has been deemed 'vulnerable' and 'feeble' by former Arsenal shot stopper Graham Stack.
After securing their first Premier League title in 22 years, Arsenal's focus shifts to their high-stakes showdown with the defending European champions in Budapest on Saturday, March 30. PSG boasts an impressive attacking unit, featuring the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Desire Doue, with Vitinha setting the tempo in midfield.
Despite their strengths, PSG has a notable weakness in goal, according to Stack. Safonov, who has been the team's first-choice goalkeeper since January, has shown signs of vulnerability, particularly when dealing with balls coming into the box. Stack believes that Arsenal should capitalize on this weakness by putting Safonov under 'severe pressure' from set pieces.
Safonov's physical presence has also raised concerns, with Stack describing him as 'quite slim, and a bit lanky, and a bit feeble.' This perceived weakness could be a major target for Arsenal, who are renowned for their threat from set pieces. By isolating Safonov and bombarding him with crosses, Arsenal may be able to exploit PSG's defensive vulnerability.
On the other hand, Arsenal's goalkeeper David Raya has been in outstanding form this season, and Stack believes that he will be the difference-maker in the upcoming match. 'If Raya plays well, or if Raya continues his form, which he's been in, he gives Arsenal every chance to go and win the Champions League, without a question,' Stack said.
Raya's presence in goal has instilled confidence in the Arsenal team, allowing them to perform at their best. With PSG's attacking prowess, it's likely that they will create chances, but with Raya in goal, Arsenal may be able to capitalize on Safonov's weaknesses and secure a crucial victory.
