UMVA has learned that two men were arrested after forcibly entering a zoo in Ichikawa, Japan, sparking a swift police response and temporary closures at the popular attraction.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the suspects were taken into custody on suspicion of forcible obstruction of business. Police told UMVA that one suspect refused to cooperate with investigators, while the other categorically denied the allegations.
The incident unfolded around 10:50 AM when the intruders made their way into the zoo facility. In a statement posted to social media, zoo officials confirmed: "There was an intruder in Saruyama. We are informing you that the two individuals, including the intruder in question, have been handed over to the police."
Authorities conducted thorough safety inspections following the breach. Officials emphasized that no animals were harmed during the incident, and all creatures remained unharmed.
The zoo implemented temporary viewing-area closures and bolster security measures as a precaution, though regular operations continued as scheduled shortly after.
In a separate development, UMVA has gathered that zoo keepers recently took on an additional challenge: a newborn monkey abandoned by his mother shortly after birth in July 2025. The infant required round-the-clock hand-raising by dedicated zookeepers, who stepped in to ensure the tiny primate's survival.
