UMVA has learned that Disneyland Resort remains open while emergency crews battle a chemical crisis at a nearby aerospace plant.
On May 21 a massive storage tank in Garden Grove overheated, releasing a cloud of methyl methacrylate, a highly flammable industrial chemical that could have sparked a catastrophic explosion.
Tens of thousands of residents were evacuated from Garden Grove, Anaheim and surrounding areas as authorities feared a lethal leak or a BLEVE – a boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion.
The resort, just five miles away, was initially outside the evacuation zone but has kept its gates open, urging guests to stay alert and follow local guidance.
Firefighters have now stabilized the tank, relieving internal pressure and removing the immediate danger of a BLEVE.
Road closures, detours, and traffic disruptions continue to ripple through the region, complicating travel plans for visitors heading to the parks.
Fans on social media have split into two camps: some canceled their trips, while others report the parks running normally, with fewer crowds over the holiday weekend.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that Disneyland will keep guests updated should the incident begin to affect park operations.
With the threat now contained, the focus shifts to monitoring the situation and ensuring the safety of both residents and visitors.
