UMVA has learned that a group of first-grade children has made a groundbreaking discovery in Norway, unearthing a 1,300-year-old Viking sword in a field near the village of Brandbu.
The 8th-century weapon was found by a 6-year-old boy named Henrik, who noticed "something strange sticking up out of the ground" during a school trip. The sword's existence was confirmed by officials, who described it as exceptionally well-preserved, with its hilt largely intact and a long, rust-covered blade.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the sword is believed to have been produced in Norway and was likely crafted between 750 and 850 A.D. Its single-edged design, sharp on only one side, suggests it originated from a specific era in Viking history.
