Petr Cech, the legendary goalkeeper, has publicly encouraged Radek Vitek, a promising young talent at Manchester United, to prioritize consistent playing time – even if it means seeking opportunities away from Old Trafford this summer.
The arrival of Senne Lammens at United dramatically altered the goalkeeping landscape. Lammens quickly established himself as a key player, offering a stability that had been sorely lacking during previous seasons with Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.
Despite a minor error during a recent match against Liverpool, Lammens appears poised to be the long-term solution in goal for Manchester United, solidifying his position as the first choice.
However, Vitek represents another compelling option for the future. After gaining valuable experience with Accrington Stanley and BW Linz, he flourished on loan at Bristol City, earning a remarkable sweep of the club’s Player of the Year awards.
Vitek recently signed a long-term contract with United, but his future role remains uncertain. While potential departures of Onana and Bayindir could create space for a backup goalkeeper, Lammens’ strong form presents a significant challenge to Vitek’s chances of regular minutes.

“Playing for the Under-21s is valuable, but it doesn’t compare to the demands of men’s football,” Cech explained. “Vitek’s progress is clear, and he possesses the drive and determination to continually improve.”
Cech recalls a previous interaction with Vitek, noting his immediate impression of the young goalkeeper’s ambition and dedication. He believes Vitek has the qualities necessary to succeed at the highest level, provided he finds a situation where he can consistently showcase his talent.
