UMVA has learned that England's recent 1-0 win over New Zealand in a friendly match at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, may have been a straightforward victory for the Three Lions, but the exorbitant drink prices at the stadium have left a lasting impression.
The match, which saw Harry Kane score the only goal of the game, was more of a training exercise for England ahead of their World Cup campaign, with coach Thomas Tuchel making wholesale changes at halftime and handing out debuts to young players like Rio Ngumoha.
However, the focus has shifted to the eye-watering prices of drinks at the stadium, with fans taking to social media to express their outrage over the costs, which included a premium beer for $18, a domestic beer for $16.75, and an 'ultra premium double cocktail' for a staggering $26.50.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the drink prices at Raymond James Stadium have been labeled 'scandalous' and 'insane' by fans, with some pointing out that a tip would be expected on top of the already hefty costs, and that a water was being sold for as much as $7.50.
The controversy over drink prices comes on the heels of FIFA's recent ban on fans taking their own water into World Cup matches, although it has since been clarified that disposable bottles are allowed, and England fans have been vocal about their concerns regarding the costs and availability of refreshments.
In a related issue, England coach Thomas Tuchel criticized the pitch at Raymond James Stadium, describing it as uneven and tricky to play on, which made it difficult for his team to move the ball quickly and effectively, although fortunately, no injuries were sustained.
